We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Lawyer to join our Governance team.
Leading on the provision of a comprehensive and high-quality legal service, you will advise Members and Officers on a range of Planning areas, including environmental, highways and enforcement matters, traffic management and s106 and property agreements.
You will lead and work with Counsel to represent the Council at tribunals, and public enquiries, acting as lead negotiator on all legal documentation related to Planning. As well as providing legal advice to the Planning Committee and Local Plan Sub-Committee.
You will also draft and negotiate agreements and other documents, prepare briefings, attend meetings to advise on corporate, legal and probity issues and hold a personal caseload of projects, advice and representation where required.
To be successful in this role, you will a qualified Solicitor/Barrister or CILEX.
You will have significant experience of working in a legal environment and in this field of expertise, as well as a proven track record of developing effective relationships.
With excellent organisational and communication and strong leadership skills, you will work well both as part of a team and alone, pro-actively and flexibly responding to changing priorities.
