Colchester and Ipswich Museums Service (CIMS) are seeking a hardworking individual, passionate about the heritage and culture of Colchester, to provide administrative and project support in these areas.
Colchester has a rich and varied portfolio of heritage sites ranging from Britain’s only Roman Circus to the medieval St John’s Abbey. The Project Officer will assist in the management and interpretation of these sites for the benefit of residents and visitors to the town. A major activity is the local coordination of Heritage Open Days, the annual, national celebration of historic buildings and their stories.
The Project Officer will also assist with the development and launch of Colchester Borough Council's Cultural Strategy, and the creation of new offers for visitors to the town including, for example, walking trails.
CIMS is a leading regional museum service, attracting more than 300,000 visitors every year. We are an innovative local authority museum partnership between Colchester Borough Council and Ipswich Borough Council.
