Working Hours - 37 hours per week
If so, then we have a very rare opportunity to join our busy planning development management team at a senior level and help to shape the future at a pivotal moment with our emerging local plan currently undergoing examination. You can rise to the challenge of delivering allocations to create beautiful, distinctive and sustainable places whilst ensuring that there is a strong future for our locally, nationally and internationally significant heritage.
You will benefit from working in a friendly and stimulating team of planning professionals, whose skills and experience will not just complement yours, but will expand your expertise into all kinds of associated specialist areas, such as heritage, landscape management and trees.
The role will involve a stimulating balance of diverse casework and appeal work. In your skills set, you will be highly organised, technically knowledgeable and ideally have, or be eligible for, professional membership of the RTPI. It would also be highly advantageous for you to have a recognised post grad qualification in a complementary area such as urban design or building conservation, have considerable experience of the proactive use of legislation, be a strong and persuasive negotiator, an able enforcer when needs must, an educator, most importantly a passionate sustainability, design and heritage advocate. You will also have an ability to build a rapport and excellent working relationships with customers, elected members, consultees, colleagues, stakeholders and local communities.
As our senior planner in a rapidly growing Borough with a diverse mix of urban and rural areas including coastal and former port communities, we’ll also expect you to have an ability to seize the enhancement opportunities that arise. We are passionate about customer service and achieving the right outcomes through a positive approach and an eagerness to work in partnership with customers and stakeholders.
So just as importantly, we are also looking for you to be able to bring the ‘right’ attitude to work and to all activities and interactions with the public, in-line with our culture. You will be used to autonomous homeworking and managing a complex case load to meet corporate deadlines. Rather than us spell out what that is in this advert, you will be expected to demonstrate what you can bring to the role.
Applications from suitably experienced job sharers welcomed.
